Accessible Transportation Around the World
Access Exchange International (AEI) is a non-profit agency promoting accessible public transport for persons with disabilities and seniors in low-income regions around the world. Our current focus is on the neglected need for transportation to and from school for children and youth with disabilities.
Notice to practitioners and researchers in the field of inclusive transportation
The publications and newsletters of Access Exchange International (AEI) have been a unique source of information on the work of agencies in our field around the world. This website provides access to these publications. We have also issued some sixty newsletters totaling nearly 500 pages of documentation focused on the development of public transport for persons with disabilities, seniors, and other vulnerable groups in low-income regions. Researchers and others interested in accessing detailed information are invited to contact Tom Rickert, the founder and retired Executive Director of AEI, at tom@globalride-sf.org.
Newsletters since 2005 are posted in English and Spanish on this archival website. We also plan to provide access on request by researchers to our newsletters between 1990 and 2005, all of which contain articles about work by different agencies in many countries.
We encourage readers to go to https://mobilityworldwide.org, the website of Mobility Worldwide, for current resources on both personal mobility aids as well as public transport. AEI's recent publications in English and Spanish are also posted at this source and we encourage contributions to this agency.
